The chair combines a beautifully considered frame with generous, comfortable proportions and the understated elegance characteristic of Dutch design. The frame has been carefully restored with respect for its age and original character, while the upholstery has been renewed in a high-quality wool fabric. The combination of the restored frame and rich textile gives the chair a fresh yet authentic presence, while preserving its vintage character.
Reupholstered in a luxurious alpaca wool blend and paired with its dark-stained wooden frame, the chair reveals a distinct architectural character, reminiscent of the work of Brazilian designers and architects such as José Zanine Caldas and Lina Bo Bardi, as well as French architect Pierre Jeanneret.Cor Alons (1892–1967) was a prominent Dutch designer, architect and teacher, known for his contribution to the development of modern Dutch furniture and interior design. His work is recognised for its clean lines, functional approach and thoughtful use of materials. Alons was closely associated with the Amsterdam School and later embraced more modernist principles, creating furniture that balanced craftsmanship with practical, everyday use. His work remains sought after for its strong design language and its place within the history of Dutch modernism.
