The sculpture consists of a series of wooden spheres connected by wooden rods, forming a geometric representation of an atomic or molecular structure. The spheres are drilled to receive the rods, creating stable connections and a balanced three-dimensional form. The rods and spheres are joined through simple mechanical fittings without additional materials. The sculpture is freestanding and designed to maintain its shape in three dimensions. Pieces like this were produced in the 1950s for educational and scientific demonstration purposes, illustrating atomic structures, chemical bonds, or molecular geometry. The construction allows the elements to be assembled in specific configurations, reflecting mid-century approaches to material use, geometry, and structural clarity in design.
Condition
The wooden molecule atomic sculpture is in good vintage condition showing age related wear and use over time with some small scratches to the lacquer and a few minor cracks due to the natural effect of the wood.
We have consciously chosen to photograph all of our items in their current state to present the real original condition as completely as possible for transparency towards our clients.
