The piece is executed in Italian walnut and integrated into a large wall unit. It features two round patinated brass elements. The bar unit is mounted on a track and can be moved horizontally to allow for compositional adjustment. The bar has four cabinet doors in different sizes and colors: yellow, soft pink, off-white, and grey. The largest door includes applied wooden Grissinato detailing. All doors are hinged to fold open, revealing the interior. The side compartments each contain a single glass shelf for storage. The central, larger compartment also includes one glass shelf. The bar is constructed as part of a modular storage and display system. The sliding mechanism and door configuration allow for multiple layout options. This piece was produced using veneered and solid wood components, in different colors and details to the surface for contrast and function.
The inspiration for this piece of furniture was drawn from the De Stijl movement, influenced by artists such as Piet Mondrian, Theo van Doesburg, and Gerrit Rietveld.
Rossi and Mascagni were innovative Italian furniture designers active during the mid-20th century, a period known for its bold experimentation and refined craftsmanship in design. Drawing on Italy's rich tradition of artisanal woodworking and modernist aesthetics, their work often combined playful colors, geometric forms, and high-quality materials such as walnut and brass. They were known for their modular and multifunctional furniture concepts, reflecting a deep understanding of both form and practicality. Though not as widely known as some contemporaries, Rossi and Mascagni’s designs remain highly collectible today, appreciated for their elegance, ingenuity, and distinctly Italian character.
