The circular top is made of pastel green glass, manufactured by Saint-Gobain, a company known for its architectural and decorative glass production in the early 20th century. The surface has a textured finish, adding depth and variation to the glass material. The base is constructed in wood and features four angled legs that support the round top with a clear geometric outline. The design reflects the interplay between modern industrial glass techniques and traditional woodworking methods used in French furniture of the period. With its compact dimensions and durable materials, the piece represents a meeting point of craftsmanship and innovation in early modern European interiors and remains of interest to collectors and professionals sourcing original 1930s French furniture.
Saint-Gobain is a French industrial group founded in 1665 as a royal glass manufacturer under King Louis XIV. Originally established to produce glass for the Palace of Versailles, the company expanded into architectural and decorative glass, supplying mirrors, windows, and later structured and colored glass for interiors and furniture. By the 20th century, Saint-Gobain became a leader in technical glass production, developing innovative materials used in both construction and design. Its work in the 1930s included textured and colored glass surfaces, which remain associated with French modernist furniture and decorative arts.
