This stem connects to a swivel made of brass, allowing rotation and controlled movement. From the joint, another stem extends and permits height changes through a system of positions. Each change engages the swivel structure. The upper end carries a shade in a round form. The construction demonstrates balance through geometry and motion. Material contrast appears through the meeting of stone and metal. The object shows design intent, mechanical clarity, and production focus.
Stilux Milano was an Italian lighting manufacturer based in Milan, active primarily during the 1950s and 1960s. The company is known for its collaborations with designers who explored new forms and materials in postwar industrial design. Stilux produced a wide range of lighting objects including floor lamps, table lamps, and ceiling fixtures, often combining metal, glass, marble, and bakelite. Its designs reflect the period's emphasis on function, modularity, and efficient production methods. Stilux played a key role in the development of modern Italian lighting and contributed to the international recognition of Milan as a design center.
Condition
Overall this floor lamp shows age related user marks visible to the stem, base and shade. The marble base shows some chips missing which is in line with the age of the light. The stem has a beautiful patina and shows user marks. The shade also shows age related wear and is in good vintage condition. The light is checked and works for EU standards
