The model represents the close dialogue between Danish design and high-quality Dutch production during the mid-century period.
Both chairs have been fully reupholstered in shearling by Skandilock. The upholstery is finished with cognac leather buttons set into the front of the backrest, creating a subtle contrast in tone and texture. The soft surface emphasizes the generous proportions of the seat while maintaining a clear architectural outline.
The frame features the distinctive boomerang-shaped back structure that defines the MS6. This sculptural line runs across the rear and visually connects the armrests. The construction is executed in solid wood: teak is used for the arms and back elements, while the legs and supporting frame are crafted in oak. The entire wooden structure has been fully restored, preserving the precision of the joinery and the original design intent.
The MS6 relates to the organic yet controlled forms seen in the work of designers such as Hans J. Wegner, Arne Vodder and Finn Juhl, where sculpted wooden frames define the silhouette and support generous upholstery. Like these contemporaries, Schubell focused on structure first, allowing comfort to follow the logic of the frame.
This licensed Bovenkamp production stands out for its execution. The combination of solid teak and oak, the clarity of the boomerang back, and the renewed shearling upholstery make this set an exceptional example of Scandinavian craftsmanship.
Condition
The seat and backrest have been reupholstered in high-quality sheepskin/shearling by Skandilock, including the smaller leather button tufting integrated into the backrest. The dual-tone teak and oak frame has been restored, while retaining visible traces of age and use to preserve the integrity and character of the piece.
The pair shows a very minor detail underneath the armrest which is not visible, ask for an image if you wish to see the detail.
We have consciously chosen to photograph all of our items in their current state to present the real original condition as completely as possible for transparency towards our clients.
