The chair was constructed with an ash wood frame and features original cognac leather that has developed patina through use and time. The leather seating is attached to the frame with cognac leather lace, forming the primary connection system. Each example in the edition follows the same structural method, resulting in a consistent record of materials, joinery, and production approach within the documented series.
Stefan During (Dutch)is a former Geologist who later became a designer who works on the Island of Texel. He is known for work produced in small editions and for the use of direct construction methods. His practice includes furniture developed through limited or single runs rather than mass production. During’s approach often centers on visible structural solutions and material-driven assembly techniques. His documented output reflects collaboration with local workshops and controlled series production, placing his work within a context of Dutch design focused on craft, material transparency, and defined manufacturing processes.
Condition
The chair is in good vintage condition showing signs of age and use throughout the ash frame. The original cognac leather seating and backrest are patinated and the structure has been checked. The laces are recently renewed in the atelier from Stefan During himself. In case you'd like to have the chair professionally restored to your wishes, we will gladly discuss the options with you.We have consciously chosen to photograph all of our items in their current state to present the real original condition as completely as possible for transparency towards our clients.
In case you have any additional questions about the original condition, always feel free to reach out and ask us for additional images. We do also offer services such as restoration and re-upholstery in case this is wished for.
