The frames are made of teak and feature integrated curved handles that extend from the rear legs, forming a continuous support structure. The seats are paired with black leather cushions, which are not currently attached but can be fixed to the frames if desired. The stools are freestanding and can be used individually or as a pair. The construction includes visible joinery connecting the legs, handles, and stretchers to the seat frame. The dimensions and proportions follow mid-century Danish seating conventions, with a low profile and slightly angled seating surface. The stools reflect materials and manufacturing methods typical of Danish furniture production in the 1960s, allowing functional use across a variety of interior spaces.
Poul Jensen was a Danish furniture designer active during the mid-20th century. He collaborated with Danish manufacturers, producing seating, tables, and domestic furniture. Jensen’s work focused on functional construction, efficient use of materials, and integrating structural elements into the design. Many of his pieces were made in teak and other hardwoods typical of Danish furniture of the period. His designs were sometimes signed or labeled, as with the sticker found on one of these stools, allowing for attribution. Jensen contributed to mid-century Danish furniture, supporting the transition from handcrafted pieces toward small-scale industrial production while maintaining a focus on functional, durable designs.Condition
The pair of stools is in good vintage condition, showing some small traces of age and usage throughout the frame. The original black leather cushions show signs of wear and age, which is in line with the stools being from the 1960s.
