Early bench, model S14B, designed by the French furniture maker Pierre Chapo, manufactured in his workshop in Gordes, France. Based on the principles of the Golden Ratio this bench has beautiful proportions. The minimalist shape executed in solid elm shows a very deep patina gained over time. This specific version is an early and aged example showing a stunning grain due to the use of the currently distinct European Elm (Ulmus laevis).

Pierre Chapo (1927-1987) was a French furniture designer and craftsman known for his solid wood creations and minimalist, functional designs. He worked primarily with natural materials such as French Elm and Oak, emphasizing natural beauty and traditional joinery techniques. Chapo's work is often associated with the French modernist movement, blending rustic simplicity with geometric precision. His designs are based on the golden ratio and he was driven by three core principles: 'material, form, and function.'

    Condition
This bench has signs of age and use which is in line with the age of the bench. Both the legs and the top of the bench have some minor scratches.

We have consciously chosen to photograph all of our items in their current state to present the real original condition as completely as possible for transparency towards our clients.

In case you have any additional questions about the original condition, always feel free to reach out and ask us for additional images. We do also offer services such as restoration and re-upholstery in case this is wished for.
