The 'Sculptors Chair' in solid teak by Jens Harald Quistgaard, Denmark, was designed in 1989 and never put in production. And a limited edition of 15 chairs were later manufactured. The stool was created as an exclusive design, with only a small number produced, making it a rare piece. This one is number 14 out of the 15 produced.

The design was intended to highlight Quistgaard’s commitment to blending functional artistry with quality craftsmanship. The stool features a solid teak seat, known for its durability, supported by a simple yet elegant frame, typical of Quistgaard’s style. The piece includes a stamp, indicating its authenticity and confirming its design by Quistgaard. The limited production reflects the designer's focus on producing high-quality, handcrafted furniture in smaller quantities, making each piece unique. The 'Sculptors Stool' is both a functional seating option and a sculptural object, embodying the principles of Scandinavian design, emphasizing simplicity, material integrity, and craftsmanship.

Jens Harald Quistgaard (1919-2008) was a Danish designer known for his work in furniture and industrial design. His career spanned several decades, during which he created a wide range of functional and aesthetically pleasing pieces. Quistgaard’s designs often featured natural materials like wood, particularly teak, and his work was highly regarded for its craftsmanship and attention to detail. He gained international recognition, and his work was featured in exhibitions around the world. Quistgaard is perhaps best known for his designs for Dansk International Designs, which became synonymous with Scandinavian modernism. His pieces remain highly sought after for their timeless appeal and quality.

    Condition
The Teak wooden frame shows small signs of age and use and is overall in good vintage condition. The stool received a small restoration to ensure stability on the structure. One repair in the back visible. Slight crooked construction.

We have consciously chosen to photograph all of our items in their current state to present the real original condition as completely as possible for transparency towards our clients.

In case you have any additional questions about the original condition, always feel free to reach out and ask us for additional images. We do also offer services such as restoration and re-upholstery in case this is wished for.
