While clearly referencing Gray’s architectural furniture designs from the 1920s, this piece is not part of the official 'Classicon re-editions, it's still a beautiful individual interpretation of an important piece of art with its own distinct character and detailing.
Executed in richly grained mahogany with refined brass accents, the cabinet embodies the balance between functionality and sculptural form that defines Gray’s work. The composition is highly architectural, combining geometric volumes, contrasting materials and a dynamic arrangement of storage elements.
The left section features three pivoting drawers, complemented by additional central pivot compartments and four traditional drawers on the right-hand side. Positioned between the storage sections is a compact integrated writing surface, allowing the piece to function equally well as a small desk or an elegant vanity.
Eileen Gray worked across furniture, interior, and architectural design, and became known for combining industrial materials with traditional craftsmanship techniques. Her furniture designs continue to influence later productions and reinterpretations, including pieces manufactured after her original models and concepts. Designs associated with Gray remain relevant within collectible design, modern interiors, and architectural furnishing contexts.
