These side tables are made of solid Wengé wood and features a surface composed of evenly spaced wooden slats. The surface of the Wengé shows a visible grain pattern consistent with the natural characteristics of the wood. The joints on the sides are executed in a lighter wood, creating a contrast with the Wengé. The form is linear, and the construction focuses on stability and material efficiency. The dimensions and proportions suggest use as a low seating element or functional surface. The use of Wengé, a wood that became widely used in furniture during the 1960s, suggests the set was most likely produced in that period and reflects woodworking techniques and material use typical of Dutch furniture design of the time.

Condition

Both side tables show signs of age and use, which is consistent with the age of the item. All legs and the tops of the tables have some minor scratches, and one small restoration has been done. These two side tables were originally part of a bench. A previous owner separated the bench to create two individual side tables (see image 7). Because of this, some marks are visible that show the slats were shortened. Overall, the tables are in great condition with some age-related wear.
