It's restored with respect for it's age and has received a new French Polish, shellac finish. The desk stands on four uniquely shaped feet that distinguish its base structure. The front of the desk features a central drawer above two storage cabinets. The left cabinet is fitted with three drawers made from solid oak while the right cabinet contains a single shelf for storage. The border of the top shows rounded edges, which are carefully veneered with eye for detail.
Overal the veneer work on this desk has been done with high care, showing beautifully mirrored grain textures creating a gentle continuous walnut grain pattern throughout the desk.
This closed back allows for flexible placement within a room without exposing internal components. The walnut grain is consistent throughout the piece, particularly noticeable on the top and back surfaces.
The overall layout and construction reflect a European Art Deco design typical of the 1930s, with attention to structural symmetry and practical storage solutions.
Condition
The desk received a gentle restoration, focussing on the finish and construction. The desks overal shows some signs of and use which is in line with the age of the desk, being from 1930's. The frame of the desk has received restoration and the drawers and doors function very well. Three keys are available, one for each storage unit and drawer.
